Alongside my own departure, tomorrow morning, I have been grappling with another absence. I had a tooth pulled out on Sunday December 20th, the tooth was painful before for two months, and the absence continues to be painful , even now 11 days afterwards. Feeling healthy is something I have been lucky enough to take for granted in my life thus far. Constant nagging pain is exhausting, dispiriting, and drains the colour out of life.
There is a beautiful picture of a horrible hole. It hasn’t healed properly, not that the dentists care, they have all gone away on holiday for two weeks leaving Usman the butcher of Drake Dental Care, Leith, in sole charge of the emergency mobile. Thank you God for the NHS emergency service at Chalmers St in Edinburgh who step in when private practices fail even on Christmas Eve..
